Most of the time, "it just works". Obviously, this is not the case

home on some old laptops, and at work on my personal laptop. Love it,
no problems. Except for one: I can't seem to make my RT Systems
USB-to-serial cable (RT-62 or 63, don't recall) work with linux. So to
do RTTY and logging with my FT-950, I actually use an old Win XP laptop.

I
found Windows drivers for the cable's chipset on the chip
manufacturer's website. But they didn't have linux drivers.

I'm
guessing the drivers might have made it to a more recent version of
Fedora, but I'm reluctant to change my current OS in case a newer Fedora
(or any other distro) doesn't actually support the RT Systems cables.
My hardware is on the old side (one has a sticker reading "Made for
Windows Vista!") and I'm not sure a newer OS would be helpful--UNLESS it
actually works with the RT Systems cable chipset.

Does anybody
know for sure?

_______________________________________________
Linux-ham
