This system will have the Dual onboard network connections, as well as a 4 port HP NIC that I'm adding. Subtract one port for backups. My employer uses servers from HP, the Proliant line is a great product. We spend a lot more dough for them, but believe that it's worth it. When a disk fails in an array, our Insight agents tell someone. That those folks aren't always listening, well, there's only so much that technology can do.... We have managed devices, we get better performance, overall, with engineered servers. The price breaks that we get by buying hundreds a year make it not nearly as expensive as if you look at list price. With that many systems, we have spares in lots of places, and our inventory gets replenished quickly. 3 year warranty on all parts of a server if you buy it as one order. There's a lot to be said for that. We can always find a server somewhere that we bought with card X, even if the one that it's in today is off of warranty ;')<BR>

that's exactly what i do, i keep a handful of intel pro/100 and various
generic nics in my inventory at all times. the 3com card i was messing
around with was on my own personal system (it was an integrated nic,
couldn't be swapped out, and since i needed two nics i wanted to get it
working so i could use it as #2). believe me, i don't waste time
screwing around with substandard hardware when i can replace it and
save my clients money in the long run. make your customers happy and
the bucks will come :-)
