<tt>The 1st amendment's tone is precisely being preserved with ads such
as this. SteveT's opinion is just the sort of attitude that the 1st
amendment seeks to protect against. This country was founded on an
edict of religious tolerance, not religious intolerance. In the UK you
cannot post ads for a religious oriented job in any public forum. Here
in the US, all religions are welcome and desired -- if you want to post
an open-software & Linux based job on an open-software & Linux
based users group discussion list, especially one in which many are
looking for a job, then this is the right place to do so.<br>

Had the ad been for a Jewish advertising company, or a Islamic
advertising company, or a Hindu advertising company, there would not
have been near the fervor of discussion on this board. Religious
repression is exactly one of the tenants that this country fought
against to begin with. I am so sick of the "not yours, but mine"
attitude, rather than a "both of ours count". Tolerance and support
people! Not intolerance and repression!! Where the hell is your
sensitivity training?!? And what are you like on the job to those who
do not match your opinions?<br>

Let's belly up to the bar and discuss our common interests together,
like Linux and Open Source, rather than bellyaching about a personal
bigoted agenda. If a Linux & Open Source job comes along, lets get
it out to the group -- regardless of any personal feelings about
religion.<br>

It's pretty safe to assume that any LUG member who loves Jesus participates heavily in a local church, so why unnecessarily involve the non-Jesus-loving members of the LUG?
The other thing, and this is just me, your mileage may vary, is that the United States has been formed as a melting pot. We're all immigrants except the Native Americans (iow American Indians). Although the first amendment in
no way prohibits job posts like this one, the first amendment sets a certain tone that I'd personally like to see preserved.
