i was thinking about using it more for a point to point connection to my
own network rather than finding an ISP.  so much for thinging :-)

	Nope.  There really isn't much being done in the area of amateur
digital 
	networks, and even if you do happen upon a network, there isn't
a direct 
	gateway over to the Internet.  Then of course there are the
legal issues of 
	what you can and can't transmit over amateur frequencies. 

	The short of it is amateur radio is not a viable replacement for
an ISP.
