I'm pretty sure that the pcmcia image is for folks who need the PCMCIA support while installing.  That would mean that their HD is hanging off a PCMCIA scsi adapter or that they are doing a network install via a PCMCIA network card.

I normally install via NFS these days (via my home network).  I can
install RH9 in 11 minutes via NFS.

After an install, look in /root. You will find a file called
"anaconda-ks.cfg".  This is a kickstart file. You can use it recreate
your install on another server.  You can also it as base and edit the
file to add/remove certain features.

When you first boot an installation floppy or CD you pass it a "ks"
option that points to the kickstart file.  That tells the install to use
the Kickstart file instead of bothering you with all sorts of questions.
