Hello

I am also very busy, but I would like to keep track of what's going on as
well. I am more interested in LPI than RHCE.

Rock, et. al.,

I've been poking around the net looking for a LPIC study group to join
and decided to see if we could get one started here. I talked to Jason
from TriLUG and he suggested I post to the list. So here we are.

Anyway, I looked at http://lists.freegeek.org/listinfo/lpi-study and
http://209.61.182.150/certification.htm for information and ideas. I am
currently studying using Exam Cram 2 LPIC I, ISBN 0-7897-3127-4,
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0789731274/103-4140624-9499859?v=glance

There are other choices as well http://www.lpi.org/en/books.html. I
have the O'Reilly and Dean books but they are both old and the test
objectives have changed since their printing. As you can see, I've been
thinking about this for awhile!

I was thinking that we could brainstorm on how to attack this problem on
two fronts; (1) Brick and Mortar study groups where people meet in
person and do stuff and/or (2) Virtual study groups where people meet in
cyberspace using collaboration software and do stuff.

Personally, I work full time and am taking two grad school classes this
semester so my time is tight but I do want to make time to get this cert.

Comments?

knowledge. We usually select the current distro and a recent book as a
study guide to go with it.

"hit every topic once and only once' is really appropriate for this
material. Would we be better served by ongoing study covering a range of
topics from the simple (how to put a .img onto a floppy disk) to the
rather advanced (deploying enterprise- wide SAN filesystems using only
stone knives and bearskins...), repeatedly visiting topics as demand
dictates?
