[TriLUG] rlogin on Red Hat 7.1?

Thanks for that "*exactly*" part -- helped me discover that somehow I'd lost
the trailing "}" character in my xinetd.d/rlogin file. rlogin is working now :-).

Now I'm trying to get rsh working. netstat shows I've got a listener on 514 but
all attempts to rsh into this machine receive "Permission denied". I've also tried
a .rhosts in my home directory to no avail. Any more ideas?

(BTW - This is a truly isolated network)

your mail client's word wrap settings ;) heh j/k

1) so what's xinet.d/rlogin contain *exactly*?
   (disable = yes would be bad :)

2) go ahead and stop/start xinetd just to make sure it's *really*
   reading new config

3) netstat -na|grep 513|grep LISTEN and see if something's listening

Side note: Any particular task you're trying to perform, esp. one where
           we could help you migrate towards an ssh-based or similar
           approach?  Ignore only if this is a truly isolated network :)
