  ... and while i'm thinking about it, can we draw parallels regarding
*other* half-baked ideas that have been foisted on the american public,
for their own good:

1) the clipper chip
2) the v-chip in tvs

  i've always thought that the best way to present an argument is
by way of historical analogy.  just thinking out loud ...
