[TriLUG] stollen computer

I had a break in a couple weeks ago in my appartment and my computer was
one of the things they took.  I had my computer configured to do dynamic
dns, and so when they connected it to the internet yesterday, I was able
to find out the IP address they were using and what time they were using
it.

Last night they logged in again and I logged into my ftp server (the one
on the machine that was stollen) to make sure it was my computer.  I also
have apache and vnc installed on it and so I am positive that it is my
machine.  While they were still connected, I ran a traceroute and found
that my computer was in or near Reston, VA.

I tried calling up the owner of the IP block, but they will not give me
any additional info (I am sure they have the phone number) since I
am not an employee of AOL or a government authority.  And the Durham
police don't seem to understand what is going on.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew what authorities I could contact
that could pursue this information.
