under the hood, the staroffice 6.0 beta is virtually indistinguishable
from the 638C build of openoffice (www.openoffice.org) -- apparently,
they use the same code base and will even share the same bug report
database.

so you could just as well get the latest openoffice.  that might be
easier since the sun download site is overloaded these days.
