[TriLUG] Installing freefonts and sharefonts?

Hello, 

Could anyone explain to me how to install the
sharefonts and freefonts under redhat 7.1.? I would
like to use them in the gimp. I used to be able to
install them easily on my previous versions of redhat,
but I'm not sure how it's done these days... Are there
also other nice smooth fonts that can be used in the
logo scripts in the gimp?
