[TriLUG] just starting out, help

If you are using KDE, use the "internet dialer" in the Internet menu. It
will set it up for you. My modem is on COM2, so I chose /dev/ttyS1 (COM1 is
/dev/ttyS0, COM2 is /dev/ttyS2, etc).

If you want to understand WHAT it is doing for you, then I would also
suggest the same thing that Cheryl does. The PPP-HOWTO shows you what files
are doing what and is very informative.

Ray,

Don't sweat it, brother - we were all 'just starting out' at one
point. Have you checked out the PPP howto?

 http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/PPP-HOWTO/

Linuxdoc.org is a pretty good place to start out, whatever you need help
with. You should be able to keep using MindSpring - just don't think for
one second that they'll help you get set up. I've had ISP support folks
hang up on me for saying the 'L' word.

Good luck! And we're all here to help you along the way, if you need it.

:-)
