I have a Toshiba Satellite 2595XDVD running 7.1. The LCD has never configured
correctly. The display is shifted up about 1/4". Suse and Mandrake both set
it up correctly. I have a feeling this is also why I can't play MPEGs
correctly.
I'd love to upgrade to 7.2 and pay the $60 to support the local economy, but
I need to make sure my hardware will be supported correctly (and I'd love to
have out of the box support for my Archos Juke Box, but I understand there
are more complex issues surrounding that USB device).
I work in Meridian, about two buildings down from Red Hat. If you're located
there, I'd be happy to let you take a look at my notebook and use it as a
guinea pig. I'm looking forward to getting Linux and a Windows emulator
(Win4Lin?) that can support PCAnywhere so I can finally turn this into a
Linux-only machine.
