Hi,
I just received a flyer about this DSL company. It is about the same (same
top download speed, lower upload speed, ...)
The main differences are:
- -they provide a fixed IP and
- - it looks very Linux friendly:
(from http://www.directvdsl.com/why/faq.asp)
Is there anything I should change about my computer?
... The only change you might need to consider is if your Windows PC doesn't
already have an Ethernet card, you may want to install one to get the best
performance. Ethernet cards are inexpensive and rather simple to install.
Macintosh, Linux, or UNIX computers need Ethernet for their DIRECTV DSL
connection, but most of these computers already come equipped with it.
Can I host a Virtual Private Network (VPN)?
YES! ...
Can I run my own Web, FTP, DNS, SMTP, POP3, or other email server?
Yes...
Does DIRECTV DSL support X-Windows, TELNET, and FTP?
Yes ...
So,
Anyone with them? Horror stories anyone? Do they really work? Are they part
of the Microsoft/Disney megamonopolies?
Salut,
Sinner
