Yes.  If your server is setup to the most prevailing standard, then procmail
is run as a preprocessor for your mail.  That means, that the server hands
your local mail to procmail, and lets procmail decide what to do with it.
Normally procmail just slams the mail into your local spool, but first it
looks for a local .procmailrc file.

If the file .procmailrc exists in your home directory, then procmail pretty
much does whatever that file tells it to do.  The commands used in
.procmailrc files are "arcane", so most folks look up a "recipe" they like
and just use that.  You can learn more about procmail commands by looking at
the examples in the man pages:  man procmailex

There are even some websites that publish wonderful procmail "recipes" that
you can simply cut and paste into your own .procmailrc file (with a minimal
of editing).
