I use a Logitech QuickCam USB on Mandrake 8.1. I can get video out of it. I 
would like to get more info about how to run Gnomemeeting but... 

Any internal CD-burner (IDE, SCSI) should work OK on Linux (any). I use a 
Philips myself (4x2x1x ! yes! 4x2x1x). External (usb) are known to work:
