[TriLUG] cannot get mahogany rpm to install

[root at amr src]# rpm --force --install mahogany-0.63-0.i386.rpm 
error: failed dependencies:
        libcrypto.so.1   is needed by mahogany-0.63-0
        libssl.so.1   is needed by mahogany-0.63-0

I've tried creating symlinks in /lib and /usr/lib for the
expected <filename>.so.1, and ran ldconfig -v but it still
cannot find it.

I've also tried --force and --nodeps on the rpm command line,
and it still aborts installation.

Here are the contents of /lib and /usr/lib in relationship to
these libraries

Am I missing an argument to ldconfig? I've read the man page, but don't
understand why it's not picking up the changed symlinks in /lib and /usr/lib.

I'm running Mandrake 8.1 (Linux amr 2.4.8-26mdk #1 Sun Sep 23 17:06:39 CEST 2001 i686 unknown)
