The Netgear box I use was only about $130, and that was several
months ago.  It's most likely gone down since then.

If you don't have the money, however, then by all means, use what
you have.  I just like the convenience of never having to worry 
if the computer my printer is connected to is going to die and
my other computers on the net are not going to have access to
the printer.
