I'm using the Linksys PC card and access point without any problems. I had a
Red Hat 7.0 that I used the wlan project drivers for, which worked fine. A
recent install of Red hat 7.2 on another laptop had support for the card
built-in, and was a breeze to set up. I did notice a increase in range after
updating the firmware on my access point, so I would suggest doing that if
you go with the Linksys.

I'm not using WEP, so don't know about that aspect.
