If you are on a very fast network (like a corporate LAN or university 
network) and have access to a local mirror the ftp install often goes faster 
than CDROM.  If you're going over a residential link forget it.  The key is 
really having a 100Mbps connection to an ftp mirror (even 10Mbps is pretty 
sweet).
