I've had RH 7.2 on my laptop for a while now and I'm wireless on a SMC 
card.  It hasn't called the smc wlan0, it has always been eth0.

I'm about to give mandrake 8.2 a shot, i'll let you know if I run into 
any problems.

Actually I haven't had to really configure my wireless card at all, it 
finds it on its own..
