[TriLUG] somewhat OT: ximian redcarpet on solaris 8

I ran it on a Solaris Ultra 5 with Solaris 2.7. Ran fine.

System: Solaris 8 on Sun Ultra 5

I'm wondering if anyone here has tried to get redcarpet to run on
Solaris 8.  I'm getting a pretty ambiguous error trying to install it
and the ximian.com site provides no forums or anything to try to figure
out what is going wrong.  Just wanted to ping the crowd and see if there
was a known gotcha in getting this to work on Solaris.
