How did you get a copy of Mandrake 8.3? I am only able to get 8.2 or Cooker. 
But no 8.3

Also,... compiling vmware? I thought that vmware was an application that you 
install, a binary-only application. Are you sure that you are not talking 
about Win4Lin?
