Used Dell Laptop in 1998.  Took 2 exchanges to get a good one.  They might be 
better now...or not.  Look into APM vs ACPI. I think Toshiba and Compaq force 
you into using ACPI on newer models.  ACPI is not mature which is not a bad 
thing, but something worth looking into since it is so closely associated 
with laptop functionality.  If you want to use ACPI, you'll be mucking with 
your kernel a bit, again not bad, just be prepared.  I think the Alchemist is 
up to speed on ACPI on Toshiba.  Search archives (using new tool, eh?) on 
"Alchemist Toshiba ACPI".
