Yep, that's what some friends of mine thought too :-)
However, now that I've tried "Redmond Linux" (thanks to Linux Format
magazine's latest issue which included the entire distribution), I was not
impressed. Because: 1. If you're going to install hardware by simply asking
for the manufacturer and model number, you'd better have a good long
list--they didn't have my Matrox 450 video card (only the 400), nor my
Ensonic sound card (which didn't work after installation). Moreover, this
"defect" was also mentioned in the Linux Format magazine review. Also 2. I
found that the applications that were present to be very buggy and they
crashed very easily (also mentioned in Linux Format's review). To be fair
I'm still a "newbie" as far as distributions go and I didn't install the new
version that wasn't mentioned in the MSNBC article. So maybe they've fixed
both these problems. 3. But it did "Look Marvelous" (as NBC's Sat. Night
Live would say), just unfortunate that it didn't "work Marvelous".
It's probably worth taking a look at in the future, esp. if you can obtain
the latest version. If you'd like to know what a Microsoft version of Linux
would look like, this would come pretty close. The big advantage it has is
that MS users would at least know where things are located, yet it's KDE!!
Al Johnson.
