Ah, well that makes sense.  Unfortunately, Mandrake's resources
are limited compared to Debian and they are limited by the fact
that they need to make money, so they can't do everything.  They
do, however, make a great distribution that, I believe, is better
integrated than any of the others.

They provide src rpms so they can be built on other architectures.
You would probably run into problems with the fact that they've setup
all the build requirements and install requirements based on what's
available for Mandrake, but it shouldn't be too hard to adapt.
Since debian, however, doesn't use rpms, you might be able to
use the "alien" program to install the binary rpms directly...

Well, you could always learn openGL and write your own. :-)

I just remembered the 3D package I was thinking of, btw.  It's
the Blue Moon Rendering Tools (http://www.bmrt.org/).  BMRT
is a Renderman clone.  It's not open source, but it is free,
even for commercial use.
