My guess is its just the product/manufacturer id that isn't set in the
realtek driver.  You may be able to hack the id's into the driver and
recompile the module.  I used to do this in the early 90's for strange but
compatible ISA cards that used different memory addresses (add/remove
addresses as necessary).
