OK, I figured some of it out.
Apparently my power supply has gone south. (It's taking a dirt nap,
pushing up daisies, it's run up the curtain and joined the choir
invisible)
Also, the quick suspend (1 minute of idle time) was due to the bios on
the laptop. (It NEVER went into suspend under RedHat.)
However, this doesn't answer the question of why I don't have that
configuration option that Jon was talking about.
So, to sum up... Power supply dead, so I'm not on AC... and BIOS level
suspend is working, when it never had under RedHat. Still have an
apparently missing menu though...
