Yes, because you get the original and pristine source code.
No, because you already have the spec file, so you can build an RPM file (and
the package becomes visible in your software database) AND all the
modificatiopns so it plays nice with your directory structure (/opt vs
/usr/bin vs /usr/local/bin vs ...) and the
[RedHat/SuSE/Mandrake/YouNameIt]-Way-of-doing-things (TM)
