[TriLUG] New servers installed

Hi folks,

Just wanted to update everyone on what has been happening with
the trilug servers.  This evening I went over to Inflow and installed
the new ftp server and the new kerberos/ldap/e-mail server.  So, 
the machines are physically in place.  The services they will have,
however, still need to be setup.  Kerberos and ldap are up and
running, but they need to be populated.  That will probably 
happen as people request e-mail accounts, though, to avoid
messing up the people who already have shell accounts.  For 
imap, I've been looking at cyrus imap and I'm not very encouraged.
Instead, I've found some good docs on how to setup UW imap
in what's known as "black box mode" and using the mbx format
instead of the default mbox (or standard unix mailbox) format.
The mbx format apparently solves several problems with the
mbox format and provides a significant speed increase.  I'll
be working on setting that up tomorrow and the next day.  I'm
*hoping* (but don't hold me to this) that it will be up and
running and available for testing by the time the meeting
rolls around. <fingers crossed>

As far as the mirror server is concerned, I'm going to be
copying over the current mirrors and then moving all
access to the mirrors over to the new machine.  I'm anticipating
that being up and running with everything sometime next week
(just because I have a lot of other stuff to do, *and* I'm going
to be in Houston, TX from friday until monday :-).
