Sadly enough, this is the best option of the ones you listed.
Latency issues that I experienced might be mitigated by a faster
network (...)? But yes, the "best" solution would be a native
Linux client. Speaking of which, isn't aruser _fairly_ portable?
(not having seen the source makes this difficult for me to
answer)
