Windows shouldn't be run at 60Hz. That LCD works best at 75, 82 or 85Hz.

Interesting. I thought I was but will double check. The settings under
Windows is 1024x768 with 60 Mhz refresh frequency. I don't know how to
tell the refresh frequency on the Linux side - but I am at the same
resolution. 

I'm trying to look up more info about my monitor, but I'm not having
much luck yet (didn't realize it was that old!). Anyway, it's a
ViewSonic L700 LCD Flat Panel display - so maybe I need something
different loaded on my Linux box? Ah well, more research ...
