Actually, I hope you don't mind that I am responding on-list. Just like
other calls to take things "off-list", the best way to get rid of an
off-topic thread is to ignore it. If it gets posts, outside of flames,
then it appears to be on topic, no?

I also realize you are doing this as a courtesy, but being part of an
on-line community also involves setting behavior standards for that
community, so I think we can talk about it.

If something is funny, but a bit off-color, a little content warning note
wouldn't hurt (although the URL in question did seem to speak for itself).
I really like seeing "warning: contains audio" when working in cube land.
Due to the downright insanity concerning sexual harassment in the
workplace, especially in the larger corporations, it would be a common
courtesy. I have a friend at NORTEL who was looking for some sporting
goods and guessed wrong about the URL for Dick's Sports. Besides playing
"whack a mole" with the pop-ups while trying to convince his cube-mates he
was not gay, the last thing he would need would be a visit from the HR
rep.

But I digress. I think such things should be included as a courtesy, but
the poster should not be flamed for forgetting.

A cute comic on this topic (suitable for all ages):

P.S. I much prefer the term "vulgar" to "obscene". Obscenity implies the
forbidden, and at the least the titillating. Vulgar implies crudeness and
the rude.
