[TriLUG] GDM Woes

When I start Gnome2 with GDM I can not get anti-aliased fonts. I have
put the GDK_USE_XFT=1, or export GDK_USE_XFT=1 in my gdm session and
still no luck. When I use KDM all the fonts in Gnome are anti-aliased,
but my font choices are so limited, about 5 fonts to choose from, that
I'd almost rather deal with no AA at all. Also, and this should probably
be another post, has anyone had problems with KDM and GDM locking after
logging out using xinerama? I have to telnet into this machine to kill X
and restart the display manager or I just get the plain X screen
completely locked up. I can't Ctrl-Alt-backspace, switch between
consoles, or even Ctrl-Alt-Del. When I run top on my other machine, I
notice that this machine will jump to 99% for X and just stay there.
