[TriLUG] RH8 Setup Problems (entering Root password)

I'm installing RH8 on a Dell notebook and when I get to the point of
entering the Root password (and ther accounts) I can't click or type a Root
password.
 
I've tried tabbing and using the arrow keys but I can't get the cursor into
the first box or second box.
 
Mouse and keyboard work fine on every other screen up to this point.  I can
even add users by clicking "Add". Once I add an account  I can edit or
delete that account but still can't type in a password. Without this I can't
go forward as the "Next" button is grayed out.
 
Anyone seen this happen before?
