[TriLUG] web/ftp server install q

Hi All-

Quick question ... for setting up a webserver (or an ftp server) ...
would you rely on the default RedHat 8.0 installation of the packages
(apache, mysql, etc ...)?  Or should I manually install each program?  

How "up2date" is the Red Hat package update system?  (i.e.  is it better
to rely on it or doing the updates myself with software directly from
each respective website)?
