I'll use this as a segue to a problem I'm having at home and a
suggestion for a Samba class.

I just went wireless with my Linux laptop (SuSe 8.0) and am happy with
that. Now, I want to print to an HP DeskJet attached to the main box
(Windows 98: until AOL comes up with a Linux client, I'm stuck with it
if I want to maintain family peace). What I don't want to do (and I
don't think I need to do it) is set up my laptop as a Samba server. I've
been able to connect to a file share on the main box using smbclient.
However, when I try to configure the printer via Yast2, the test print
fails, even though it appears to see the printer share.

I'm sure I'm missing something simple, but I'm not sure what. Can anyone
provide a reasonably simple checklist for printing to a Windows-based
printer from a Linux client?

This is the sort of thing that would probably be handled in a Samba
class. With the proliferation of home networks, there may be some
interest in a one day class on Samba for us tech-literate Linux
semi-newbies.

TIA,
