IIRC, RH just rolled out their own "Suite" of GUI config tools.  they 
mostly begin with "redhat-config-servicename".  i believe this was done 
b/c linuxconf was considered the devils work and needed to be "retired."

not necessarily a pipe dream.  maybe you could build the system as a 
"minimum install" and then just upload & configure the pkgs you want?
