I see a great value in this from a historical standpoint. Not that
this ESR talk is going to be earthshattering or new in some way, but
that our broader community is actually pretty poor at recording events
or the appearances of our more prominent speakers. This open source
revolution has been amazing to watch over the last ten years, and it is
sad that you don't see much about it on TV today. The historians of
the future will curse us for not having much in the way of recorded
audio/video (and already curse us for the proprietary media formats of
just 10-20 years ago that cannot be read on modern computers).
Videotaping high profile talks like this and getting the copies widely
dispersed is the best thing we as individuals can do to preserve the
moment for future researchers.
