I got the Canon GL2, which is one hop from their top offering. I
understand the GL2 is used a lot in broadcasting for field reporters,
and I can see why. It's very lightweight, unobtrusive, and produces
gorgeous footage. Not to mention it is relatively inexpensive compared
to most broadcast stuff.

Further down their line, they make the Optura series which is a great
little consumer camera.

Sony cameras are also really well respected by videographers. I don't
have any meaningful time behind them, but I do think that Canon has
greater color reproduction than Sony in general. The fact that I can
detect that is significant since I am "color blind" (meaning I see
colors but have trouble differentiating between several of them).
