Brad, for some reason I never thought to run statd on the client side. 
That fixed the problem. Thanks!

Jeremy, rpm works fine except that I cannot query for an installed 
package. It gives some odd relocation error, or at least thats what it 
said. Looks more like it's attempting to resolve a function at runtime and 
the operation fails. I'll have to grab that error message later.
