For my part, I applaud the efforts to get things right.

Do not let "harsh words from the most vocal part of the community" deviate 
from the right path.

Going for usability is The Thing To Do (TM). It dosen't matter if Linux looses 
"user-unfriendlyness" that make so many members "of the community" so proud 
of "understanding the beast". 

Why?

Because Red Hat users and customers (remmeber the "Inc." part of "Red Hat, 
Inc") both want to be able to work with minimum fuss. The goal is to use 
Linux to work. The goal is not work to configure Linux.

And I betcha that the most quiet members of the community are the ones that 
inject more lines of code, pages of documentation and guidelines into the 
whole OpenSource/Linux/GNU movement.

And as Linus says, "Show me the code". If you don't like it, do not complain. 
Change it. Rememeber, with Linux *you* are in power, *you* can do it.
