The key is SUPPORT...Veritas sales people will tell you that UNIX is NOT
supported with Backup Exec, even though they will supply you the agent
for free.  That comes directly from a Backup Exec sales executive two
weeks ago.  It works...but it is not supported.

Correction.  The server component does not run on UNIX/Linux;  the 
client, however, runs on many platforms.  I have done a full restore of 
a Sun E450 with Backup Exec.
