[TriLUG] Perl & serial ports...

I'm sure someone on the list can steer me in the right direction, My
Google search has not turned up anything concrete...

I am trying to find information (ie: perldoc {something}) on accessing a
serial port from Perl.  I would like to send/receive commands to control
an external 8 relay box. (Or "Serial Isolated Input/Output Module,
according to the label on my kit....)

For example, the box can be controlled via a terminal program, typing IO
{enter} would return the status for all 8 relays...
