since /home/user/.bashrc wouldn't work because of su, is there something
like /etc/rc.d/rc.local/user where you could map a winders share or series
of winders shares on a per user basis instead of the global nature of
autoexec.bat style stuff?

You could also simply put the samba command line in
your /etc/rc.d/rc.local file (which acts as a sort of autoexec.bat)
