BAD IDEA! ATX power supplies actually supply power to the motherboard even
when the PC is turned off. you should always physically unplug the power
cable before working on a system with an ATX supply, otherwise the potential
to damage parts is significantly increased. the older AT power supplies are
different, they don't supply power at all when switched off.
