Actually, I looked at the code in a ximian componet to see how bad it
would be to write a basic ical via webdav connector. 

First up, it's pretty ugly in there. Asside from having to grasp C++
in order to write a connector, Ximian has also invested heavily into
the object technology that they invented for GNOME. When you get right
down to it, it's not somethign that can easily be revesed based on
source code and the meager docs alone. 

I expect the guys who wrote the mail server saw a shortcut and took
it. Hopefully someone will write a proper open source connector soon.
