[TriLUG] OSS exchange replacement

Pardon me ignorance; what does this connector thingie do for us anyway?
I use Ximian Evolution everyday with Exchange Server and have no
problems.  I do not have any special connector other than RJ45.

Does the connector address the free/busy calendaring?  Email works fine
without it.
