Not necessarily. It depends on the motherboard. I suggest removing the new
modules and running memtest in order to determine that your old module
is good. Then, swap the two modules so that only the new one is now
installed and re-run memtest. It might be a good idea to set the BIOS
to its default settings and make sure that you CPU is not overclocked.

I would expect so. You should check to see if they sent warrenty
information. If you don't have it anymore, give them a call.

2GB is a bit excessive for most people. 2x memory is not a rule, it is
just a suggestion. If you plan to do 'software suspend', you will need
a larger swap than one who does not. It also depends on what sorts of
programs you run. 1 GB is plenty of swap in most cases, although one
can never have too much swap space.
