[TriLUG] semi-OT updates: RH 9 install & boot problems

hi all-

just an update for those wanting to follow my drama, otherwise skip!

1. RH 9 install. on the advice of Jon C (thanks!), i downloaded ISOs, 
setup NFS and the install is working!  (not finished yet, but i'm 
keeping my fingers crossed)

2. computer boot problems. i broke down and took the computer into the 
shop. it turns out more than 10 capacitors (i think they were 
capacitors) were blown on the motherboard. anyone know what would cause 
that to happen, other than perhaps a nuclear explosion?
